Her Storey Continues: Melanie’s Commitment with Team ARC

With the support of ARC Resources and the Enbridge Tour Alberta for Cancer, Melanie rides to give back, stay strong, and inspire others facing cancer.

In 2022, Melanie Storey’s life changed in an instant. Within the span of just one month, both she and her husband were diagnosed with cancer. It was a moment that would test their strength, resilience, and hope – but thanks to the swift and life-saving care they received at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre and the Arthur J. E. Child Comprehensive Cancer Centre, they made it through.

“Once we made it through treatment, I knew I had to get back in shape”, Melanie shares. “We wanted to give back and help raise funds for the Alberta Cancer Foundation, so the Tour seemed to be the perfect fit.”

This summer marks Melanie’s third year riding in the Tour as part of Team ARC Resources – and her commitment to the cause has only grown stronger. “I keep coming back so that others can receive the care that my husband and I did, and because I enjoy participating the in the weekend activities with so many wonderful people.”

A Team That Rides Together

Being part of Team ARC has been a highlight of Melanie’s experience, creating deep bonds among colleagues. “Riding with people who have a common commitment to helping others is truly inspiring, she says. “Everyone supports each other and encourages each other to keep going. It’s a great feeling!”

Those connections are strengthened by the incredible support from ARC Resources Ltd., a Northern Lights Sponsor of the event and a passionate supporter of the Alberta Cancer Foundation. From hosting monthly team lunch-and-learns to organizing a cheer squad for Tour weekend, ARC goes all-in.

“The Tour is a very special event that has helped to bring people from across our company together for a great cause,” says Melanie. “We really have become a Team because of this event, and that helps to make our workplace even stronger.”

Pride, Purpose, and Partnership

For Melanie, ARC’s role as a Northern Lights Sponsor is deeply meaningful. “I am so proud of my company,” she says. “ARC’s commitment to giving back to the communities where we work is what made me join the company 13 years ago. Seeing the passion and dedication that all our riders put into this event really makes me proud to be part of such a caring team.”

In just three years, Team ARC Resources has already raised more than $500,000 in support of the Alberta Cancer Foundation through the Tour – and they are still going strong for 2025.

To future riders, volunteers, and donors, Melanie has one message: get involved.

“Join us for the Tour! Whether you ride, volunteer, or just come out for the two days and cheer, she says. “You’ll never forget the experience.”
